History:

ACCYF was formed in 1996.

After several members attended the Children's Defense Fund's first Stand For Children Day in Washington D.C., community members, including then County Supervisor Wilma Chan, members of the City Council and School Board, parents, youth and representatives of community-based organizations were inspired to create a permanent group, whose vision was solely related to the needs of children and youth.

The guiding principles of the group have remained constant: an inclusive and representative membership to ensure all voices raised for children in our community will be heard; and a belief that collaboration - working outside traditional organizational boundaries - is a new and better way to improve and provide services for our children, youth and families.

ACCYF has increased its membership over the years to include a broader organization base. This has resulted in greater project collaborations and event partnering.
