Mission:

The Alameda Collaborative for Children, Youth and Their Families (ACCYF) serves as a clearinghouse of information, an incubator of innovative ideas and an advocate for children, youth and families in Alameda.

Who We Are/How We Work:

  • The ACCYF is presently co-chaired by Mayor Beverly Johnson, Alameda County Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker and Alameda School Board Trustee Tracy Jensen. There is one part-time staff person to provide technical support and project coordination. All members serve on a voluntary basis.
  • Membership in the Collaborative is open to any person or organization interested in providing the best in services and programs to our children, youth and families. Members must attend four meetings per year. We encourage youth, parents and members of our community who reflect our diversity to attend.
  • The Collaborative uses a consensus model of decision making, in which each person has an opportunity to contribute to the discussion, and in which every attempt is made to arrive at a decision that "everyone can live with." Since the initial meeting of the Collaborative in 1996, all decisions have been reached this way.
  • Our meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the Alameda Free Library, Room A, 1550 Oak Street, except July, August, & December.
  • Members attend monthly meetings and participate in work groups relating to the projects in the Yearly Action Plan.
  • The scope of the Collaborative's work is defined yearly by the membership and includes short- term, long-term and continuing projects.
